NFL Draft Preview w/ Nick Clark

This week Moonlight Graham brings you an underdog NFL draft scout of our very own. Nick Clark loves college and NFL football. More than just watching games, he loves breaking down the players and looking at what NFL teams need. What started as a hobby in high school has turned into a full-blown passion project for Nick Clark. NCtheScout joins the pod this week to get us ready for the 2022 NFL Draft.


Nick Clark was a really talented high school athlete and basketball player for Buena Vista. But when things got a little too boring in class, he pulled his notebook out and started creating draft rankings by position and chalking up his very own big board. Like a Mel Kiper, Jr. junior, Clark has slowly built up his expertise as he has crafted his alter ego: NCtheScout. And while this may be a side project, he takes his work seriously and his big board and projections are no joke.


Clark has been passionate about the draft since about 2005. Over the years, he has gone from penciling out his own picks and projections to really investing time and effort to gather all the details and insights he can. Clark dives into his work and finds connections between players and potential teams that might just be the x-factor of why one player comes off the board earlier than another. Those notebook charts have turned into a 348-player big board and a Twitter feed full of insights. 


This year’s draft is a big one for the state of Iowa. Clear Lake and UNI product Trevor Penning might be one of the top offensive tackles taken in the draft. Solon native and Iowa Hawkeye, Tyler Linderbaum won’t be far behind him. Iowa State might have their first 1st-round pick in decades with Breece Hall. In addition to those marquee names, there are about a dozen more Iowa-connected players who could have their names called this week.
